Some groups are subsidized by SERP and some are not. Learn about Sandia’s subsidy rules.
Sandia Sports Leagues and Social Associations
Sandia-subsidized co-ed associations are for Sandia employees and eligible dependents (spouse, or child up to age 26).
All leagues accept free agents for those without a team.
New sport and social associations are always welcome! Email serp@sandia.gov to share your idea.

Rucking is simply walking with a weighted rucksack or backpack.
Our mission is to connect, support and motivate people in the ABQ and Sandia community through rucking and functional fitness activities. Whether you are training for GORUCK events, enjoy intense hiking (aka weighted walks), need to satisfy your step count for the day, or are just yearning for comrades to sweat with, know you are welcome here.
Community is at our core – we want to see you succeed regardless of your experience level or personal goals. Grab your rucksack or backpack and we will see you at the rendezvous point!

Pickleball (Pickup)
Gather your friends and coworkers for a fun Saturday afternoon playing Pickleball!
Games are played every Saturday at 2pm at the Manzano Mesa Multigenerational Center on the outdoor pickleball courts. Please bring your own equipment.
This group will continue to grow and expand so come on out and support a fun new Sandia activity!

Racquetball (Pickup/Ladder League)
Check out the new Racquetball Pickup/Ladder League playing on KAFB at the East Side Fitness Center, 1451 Texas St SE
- All levels welcome
- USA Racquetball Association rules and regulations apply
- Players will need their own equipment; safety glasses and court shoes are required
Beginners: Mondays, 5 p.m. – 6 p.m. Folks that are new or just starting and would like to play non-league games for fun and learning. Starts Monday, October 2.

Running 505 (Grades 5-8)
Running 505 is a grassroots, non-competitive, wellness program for kids who are in the 5th-8th grades. We collaborate with the community at large to encourage our kids to live healthy lifestyles. This program is funded by community donations and grant applications.
Season: September – May, in various locations around the greater ABQ metro area.

Sandia Bicycle Commuters Group
Encouraging, assisting, promoting, and educating Sandia’s workforce on bicycling to work. New members are always welcome!

Sandia Disc Golf Club (Pickup)
Check out the the Sandia Disc Golf Club! This group is open to all members of the Sandia workforce (with base access) and is a great way to meet new people in a casual, fun, outdoor environment.
2023 season: April 6 through Mid-November
All levels welcome!
Rounds are held every Thursday evening at the course east of KAFB Outdoor Recreation (map). Signup time is 5:15 pm with a 5:30 tee time, but will change throughout the season as the days get longer.
Discs will be available to use for free, compliments Outdoor Recreation.

Tennis at Sandia
Connect with other tennis-playing Sandians!
The Tennis at Sandia SharePoint site was created with the goal of connecting players of all levels. If you’re interested in playing with other Sandians, add your name and playing level then send an email to the organizer.
Ultimate Frisbee (Pickup)
Players of all skill levels are welcome at pickup Ultimate Frisbee
- Who: Anyone who enjoys or wants to learn Ultimate Frisbee (all skills levels welcome)
- When: Tuesdays @ 5:30PM during daylight savings time (mid-March to early November)
- Where: Hardin Field (southwest corner near bleachers)
- What to bring:
- Water
- Light (white) and a dark shirt (almost any other color — try to avoid grey b/c it is ambiguous)
- Cleats or other shoes
