Businessolver
What you need to know
Sandia remains committed to providing benefits and resources that make it easier for you to live your best life – physically, emotionally and financially. We are excited to announce that we will be transitioning to a benefits administrator, Businessolver, to better serve your benefits management needs.
You will still contact HR Solutions for all your benefits questions; you will just experience a new look and feel when you make changes to your benefit elections online, either through Open Enrollment or at the time of a qualifying life event. When you access your benefits portal, from a Sandia device, you can explore the resources available to you for managing your benefit plans through Sandia. If you are accessing the site through a non-Sandia device, you will need to establish a personal login and password to access your benefits information.
This change reflects our ongoing commitment to providing enhanced support, streamlined services and improved access to your benefits. Our new administrator brings innovative tools and resources designed to make managing your benefits easier and more efficient.

Frequently Asked Questions
As Laura McGill stated in her Lab Director’s Monthly Update in June, Sandia is modernizing its tools to meet our strategic goals: Future Ready Engineering, Future Ready Operations and Future Ready Workforce.
Your benefits are not changing with this transition, but there will be a few differences that you should be aware of.
- All benefit premiums/contributions (except 401k and Sandia Extras) will be taken out over 24 paychecks for employees paid on the bi-weekly schedule and 48 paychecks for employees paid on the weekly schedule.
- Medical, dental and vision benefits already come out on the 24/48 pay cycles. This impacts other benefit deductions such as flexible spending accounts, the health savings account, vacation buy and long-term disability.
- For those California employees who elect to participate in the Transportation Savings Account, you will elect a monthly contribution amount, and it will be divided among your first two/four paychecks of the month depending on if you are paid bi-weekly or weekly.
- Employees who experience a change in salary during the calendar year that results in a medical premium salary tier change will pay the new premium associated with their new salary tier effective when their salary changes. Premiums will no longer be locked in at January 1 salary amount.
- Employees who miss a paycheck or have a reduced paycheck and owe for missed benefit premiums will have the owed premium amounts taken from the next paycheck. If premiums are missed for a full month, the employee will be moved to a direct bill status and will receive an invoice from Businessolver with the amount owed and the deadline to submit payment. To avoid disruption in benefits, the amount owed should be paid by the deadline on the invoice.
2027 Open Enrollment will be held October 19 – November 9, 2026, through your benefits portal. This will be the portal where you manage all your benefits, year-round, including during Open Enrollment.
You will continue to use hr.sandia.gov as your primary source of information for benefits at Sandia. There will be copies of Sandia benefit plan documents in your benefits portal as a convenience, along with links to other benefits information located on hr.sandia.gov.
You will continue to contact HR Solutions for all your benefit questions at 505-284-4700 or go to hr.sandia.gov and select the HR Solutions dropdown on the top right to “Request Chat.” HR Solutions is available:
Monday – Thursday: 7 a.m. – 5 p.m. MT (6 a.m. – 4 p.m. PT)
Friday: 7 a.m. – 4 p.m. MT (6 a.m. – 3 p.m. PT)
Saturday – Sunday: Closed
No. Employees can only change their benefits outside of the annual Open Enrollment if they experience a qualifying life event, such as birth of a child, adoption of a child, marriage, divorce, gaining other coverage, losing other coverage, etc. You can learn more about life events at hr.sandia.gov.
The enrollment flow should be intuitive as the process walks you through the benefits you can change based on the reason for the change (Open Enrollment/Life Event) but we will have resources available at hr.sandia.gov to help guide you if you need additional support. You can also contact HR Solutions for assistance.
Businessolver will be our benefits administrator for benefit enrollment for the following benefits:
