What you need to know
Sandia’s workforce values, respects and appreciates diversity and belonging—organizational traits that elevate and accelerate innovation, productivity and employee vitality. Sandia’s Belonging, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (BEDI) team guides all Sandians—from leadership to staff—in the principles and practices that cultivate a culture where employees excel as their authentic and best selves.
By exemplifying the three Sandia Behaviors, BEDI strives to create a workplace that reflects our values of doing what’s right, respecting others and performing with excellence.
- Courageous: Implement structural, systemic and systematic change to the organization.
- Connected: Cultivate and steward community.
- Purpose Driven: Align to labswide strategies and embed opportunity and belonging through consultation and coaching.

Definitions
- Belonging: true belonging does not require you to change who you are; it requires you to be who you are.
- Equity: refers to fair treatment for all people; so that the norms, practices, and policies in place ensure identity is not predictive of opportunities or workplace outcomes
- Diversity: the mix of differences and commonalities that each and every one of us brings to Sandia
- Inclusion: the act of recognizing, accepting, and valuing our diversity for exceptional service in the national interest
